About Boots and Roots
Helping Mozambicans
Planting trees
Trees can do a lot.
In particular, they can sequester CO2 bound as carbon in the wood of trees.
Trees also contribute vitamins and proteins to the Mozambican diet.
Mangoes, oranges, apples, nuts, even leaves can contribute significantly to the diet.
Trees also provide sustainable timber for construction.
Nine out of ten meals in Mozambique are cooked on a fire or charcoal, so right now wood is also vital energy.
Create jobs
The vast majority live from hand to mouth.
Educate people
Enlighten
It is also the name of a 26-year-old NGO that works in many areas to help the most disadvantaged of the Mozambican population.
We will contribute to the following UN Sustainable Development Goals
1: No poverty
We work to reduce poverty in Mozambique by creating jobs, educating locals and supporting entrepreneurship, improving living standards and economic opportunities.
2: Stop hunger
We help fight hunger by planting fruit and nut trees that improve access to nutritious food and promote food security in local communities.
8: Decent jobs and economic growth
Our projects create sustainable jobs in agriculture and forestry, strengthening the local economy and giving people the opportunity for a decent income.
10: Less inequality
We work to reduce inequalities by including marginalized groups in our projects, ensuring fair wages and promoting equal opportunities for all.
13: Climate action
We contribute to climate change by planting trees that absorb CO2, improve soil quality and protect biodiversity, all of which counteract climate change.
15: Life on land
By promoting sustainable forestry and agriculture, we protect ecosystems, make degraded land fertile again and support biodiversity diversity.
17: Partnership for action
