Become a part of Boots and Roots
Niels Ole Krogh
I helped found Boots and Roots because I fell in love with Mozambique and the Mozambicans when I was posted as a foreign worker in 1984. In light of the great inequality in the country and in the world and the threatening climate change, which hits particularly hard in the global south, I want to show solidarity with Mozambicans through concrete action.
Nelson Benzane
Vasco Benzane
In 1987, I completed a one-year education in Denmark. You Danes have a fantastic country, and it pleases me deep in my heart that I can once again collaborate with you to get my country Mozambique back on its feet. It is a long journey, but Boots and Roots is an important step and living proof of solidarity.
How it went
His interpreter was Vasco Benzane. Niels Ole was 25 years old and Vasco 22 years old, but since the Dane knew less about Mozambique and the culture here than could be under a fingernail, Vasco became both an adviser and a friend.
Nelson wants to study to become a teacher in Denmark, but is not welcome in the country. He travels back and then follows Niels Ole to investigate whether he can support the Benzane family and preferably many more families in Mozambique.
